Our insert for the Return to Hoth box offers versatile minis storage, plus additional card storage. This insert is designed to be used with the Imperial Assault Return to Hoth expansion box and offers seven removable storage trays to meet your storage needs for Hoth and the upcoming expansions. This insert was designed to stand alone, but it is a direct complement to our IMP-001, IMP-002, and IMP-004 inserts.
Note: this storage solution does also fit into the Jabba and Heart boxes, but it is not recommended for those boxes due to the need to store the Rancor and the AT-DP minis. The IMP-004 is designed to store these large minis.
A full set of etched dividers is included (and the dividers are compatible with your IMP-001 insert). You won’t need most of them if you already own the IMPERIAL-001 insert, but we had room on the design plates and with the new card trays, I’m sure you will need a few duplicates. The included etched dividers are also helpful if you don’t own our IMP-001 or own a competitor’s insert.
This design provides for additional large and small card storage (sleeved cards will appreciate the room). We also provide a shallow tray for hero card storage that also has room for a few small bits and tokens to be stored in it.
This insert includes storage for:
- large cards (sleeved or unsleeved) – one tray
- small cards (sleeved or unsleeved) – one tray
- hero cards & misc. – one tray
- miniatures – four trays (stores as many as 41 minis in individual compartments; 20 compartments can be used to store two minis, increasing the storage to 61 minis)
- everything except the map tiles, which you can store in your empty Twin Shadows box utilizing our IMP-002 insert.
The deep minis storage tray provided in this kit provides flexible storage for large and tall minis, and has a flexible divider system that will allow you to store a handful of smaller minis as well.
What Do You Need?
Imperial Assault has a ton of expansions and we continue to suport the game and expansions. When new content is released, we assess the storage needs and provide information about how the new content fits into the existing storage solutions we provide. In cases of big box releases, we typically design a dedicated storage solution for the new box.Wave 11 Update
See our recommendation below, as always, for a quick synopsis of what you need. Wave 11 fits fine in our recommended storage solutions as of wave 10 (see below). The box provided for the Tyrants expansion is the small expansion box that we use for map tile storage for Imperial Assault, so it is unusable for storing minis, cards, etc. You may want to consider purchasing an IMP-002 for additional tile storage to use in the Tyrants box. It will certainly be need at some point soon. However, if you own one of everything to this point, you don't quite need another IMP-002 unless you want to better split/organize the tiles among the expansions. We are storing our tiles in just two IMP-002 at this point, so it is not required.Wave 10 Update
General Recommendations
- If you own one of everything (base game, expansions, and small expansion figures), you need: 1x IMP-001, 2x IMP-002, 1x IMP-003, 2x IMP-004. Purchasing the listed solutions will leave you with an IMP-004 with future storage capacity, leaving room for future wave expansions through some point in 2019. You may optionally want to grab an IMP-DIV-001 as well. The IMP-DIV-001 provides additional dividers for the IMP-001 to allow groups of cards (Imperial, Hero, Item, and Deployment) to be further divided.
- If you own just the base game, grab 1x IMP-001.
Storage Solutions for Imperial Assault
- IMP-001 - this solution is designed to store the base game.
- IMP-002 - this solution is designed to fit into the smaller boxes used by Twin Shadows and Bespin Gambit and provides game tile storage only. If you have all content, you need two of these.
- IMP-003 - this solution is designed to store the content from Return to Hoth and wave 5+ small expansion figures. Only this solution provides a dedicated tray to store the large hero sheets.
- IMP-004 - this solution is designed to store the content from Jabba's Realm and the small expansion minis from wave 8+. This insert was initially designed for Jabba and includes storage for the Rancor, but has been enhanced to allow it to be used with Heart of the Empire. The main change in all IMP-004's sold now is that you have the option of building one of two different token tray designs (one for Jabba tokens and one for Heart tokens). Only IMP-004 solutions purchased after October 21, 2017 contain the two token tray options.
- IMP-DIV-001 -this divider kit provides additional etched dividers usable across this line of inserts for those inclined to divide their class and item card group as efficiently as possible.
Imperial Assault Box Sizes
Across the Imperial Assault game and expansions, there are three unique box sizes:- small - Twins Shadows, Bespin Gambit, and Tyrants. We produce the IMP-002 insert for this size box and it provides map tile storage only.
- medium - Return to Hoth, Jabba's Realm, Heart of the Empire. These boxes are all the same size, however, Jabba and Heart each contain a very large mini that requires an insert that is taller than the box, causing lid lift. Therefore, for this box size we recommend IMP-003 for Return to Hoth and the IMP-004 for Jabba and Heart.
- large - base game. Our IMP-001 is designed for this box.
Etched Dividers
The dividers in our storage solutions for Imperial Assault contain etched abbreviations to assist with the categorization and storage of various cards. The following table defines what each etching stands for. Keep in mind that all etched dividers are not present in every kit. Each kit supports the cards noted in the description.Divider Etching Legend

Product Notes
- This insert provides seven (7) removable trays. There is clearance at the top for your rulebook.
- This insert can store sleeved or unsleeved cards. Recommended sleeves include Ultra Pro Deck Protector, Mayday Premium, Dragon Shields, and FFG sleeves.
- This insert is constructed of HDF (wood product) and is natural colored. HDF does not contain a wood grain as it is a constructed wood product.
- Insert assembly requires some wood glue and about 45 minutes of assembly time. I recommend Sobo Craft glue or another comparable quick setting, tacky glue.
- This insert kit weighs 4+ pounds, so it must be shipped USPS Priority Mail outside of Canada and the United States.
- This product is not officially licensed. All marks are the property of their respective owners.

This is the 2nd time getting a go7Gaming product and I must say they didn’t disappoint. It always amazes me how snug yet not too tight these inserts are. This one particularly everything fits like a glove. I was so glad to get rid of my 40 plastic bags that used to hold the pieces. Go7Gaming has impressed me and will be “my go to insert supplier”. Thx guys keep of the good work.

Is there any combination of replacement inserts that would allow for the IMPERIAL-001 kit to be used exclusively for miniature figures, where the larger Return to Hoth box can be turned into storage for decks, tokens, and map tiles (even if it’s raised above the normal height)?
I don’t want to split up my figurine collection between kits, and it seems as though two specialized kits could contain everything.

Each insert is custom designed to fit the box it is designed for, so mixing and matching between inserts is not possible.

Including every available map tile up to and including Bespin Gambit, this storage space can get a little tight and a bit tricky, but it still holds everything flush!

Do you think you’d eventually do an updated version of the IMP-003 when Jabba’s Realm is released? I’ve got to imagine storing the Rancor is going to be a big challenge.

Quick shipping, everything worked great, and it was kinda fun putting it all together. Just a tiny bit of glue and you’re done.

Works really well and the usual great quality. I like the adjustable miniatures tray for the tank and the wampas. And a hero sheet tray was a nice addition…it was about the only thing missing from the core insert, but I had just put mine in the bag that they came in and put them in the small box with the map tiles.

A tray for the large Hero Cards is a great addition! But….they don’t fit if I sleeve them. The only down side at all!
Also, the description mentions IMP-003 and IMP-001 are the only ones that have a tray for large Hero Cards. NOT TRUE. Only IMP-003 has a tray for Hero cards!
Everything else these guys make is pure thoughtful perfection!

What do you sleeve your large Hero Cards with? Just curious.

It’s a great product. The assembly instructions are fairly bare bones, but they’re exactly as descriptive as they need to be. Because everything is fairly straight forward on how to build, especially compared other brands I’ve purchased. Everything fits exactly as described in the box and is fairly intuitive for how to put things back in the box when you’re done with assembly or playing. Thanks for the great product and keep up the good work! This review applies to all 3 products I purchased so I’ll be copying it to each.

Great for setup and teardown. If you own the entire line of imperial assault these inserts make it so much easier to keep track of things when running a game

I ordered this as soon as I saw it was available. Having previously ordered the insert for the main game, it was kind of a no-brainer. I must say, quality and functionality are top notch again!
I currently have all expansions and ally/villain packs and the insert really provides the necessary additional storage for the big cards (there are just so many). I sleeve my cards and the second large card box gives me the option to use the dividers and have room to spare.
A quick count shows that after wave 5 (smuggler + Bantha), I will still have 23 single figure slots left, with only the Wampas put together. That is good value for your money right there.
Only thing is that I had to pay import duties again (a third of the value of this insert + Imperial-002, which I ordered as well). The same thing happened with the Imperial-001 insert, so I was prepared. But something to keep in mind for international buyers.
5 stars, enough said.
