This insert provides structured storage for your Imperial Assault map tiles and is designed to be placed inside a Twin Shadows or Bespin Gambit expansion box. The insert includes one removable tray. This insert was designed to stand alone, but it is a direct complement to our IMPERIAL-001, IMPERIAL-003, and IMPERIAL-004 inserts.
Imperial Assault now has a large collection of map tiles. This insert will store your map tiles in a more organized fashion. The three compartments and one tray within this insert will allow you to separate your large map tiles from your smaller map tiles.
This design does not allow the box to fully close. The top is very stable with the insert placed in the box and overlaps the bottom of the box substantially, but we needed more room to provide useful map tile storage and up was the only direction we could go!
What Do You Need?
Imperial Assault has a ton of expansions and we continue to suport the game and expansions. When new content is released, we assess the storage needs and provide information about how the new content fits into the existing storage solutions we provide. In cases of big box releases, we typically design a dedicated storage solution for the new box.Wave 11 Update
See our recommendation below, as always, for a quick synopsis of what you need. Wave 11 fits fine in our recommended storage solutions as of wave 10 (see below). The box provided for the Tyrants expansion is the small expansion box that we use for map tile storage for Imperial Assault, so it is unusable for storing minis, cards, etc. You may want to consider purchasing an IMP-002 for additional tile storage to use in the Tyrants box. It will certainly be need at some point soon. However, if you own one of everything to this point, you don't quite need another IMP-002 unless you want to better split/organize the tiles among the expansions. We are storing our tiles in just two IMP-002 at this point, so it is not required.Wave 10 Update
General Recommendations
- If you own one of everything (base game, expansions, and small expansion figures), you need: 1x IMP-001, 2x IMP-002, 1x IMP-003, 2x IMP-004. Purchasing the listed solutions will leave you with an IMP-004 with future storage capacity, leaving room for future wave expansions through some point in 2019. You may optionally want to grab an IMP-DIV-001 as well. The IMP-DIV-001 provides additional dividers for the IMP-001 to allow groups of cards (Imperial, Hero, Item, and Deployment) to be further divided.
- If you own just the base game, grab 1x IMP-001.
Storage Solutions for Imperial Assault
- IMP-001 - this solution is designed to store the base game.
- IMP-002 - this solution is designed to fit into the smaller boxes used by Twin Shadows and Bespin Gambit and provides game tile storage only. If you have all content, you need two of these.
- IMP-003 - this solution is designed to store the content from Return to Hoth and wave 5+ small expansion figures. Only this solution provides a dedicated tray to store the large hero sheets.
- IMP-004 - this solution is designed to store the content from Jabba's Realm and the small expansion minis from wave 8+. This insert was initially designed for Jabba and includes storage for the Rancor, but has been enhanced to allow it to be used with Heart of the Empire. The main change in all IMP-004's sold now is that you have the option of building one of two different token tray designs (one for Jabba tokens and one for Heart tokens). Only IMP-004 solutions purchased after October 21, 2017 contain the two token tray options.
- IMP-DIV-001 -this divider kit provides additional etched dividers usable across this line of inserts for those inclined to divide their class and item card group as efficiently as possible.
Imperial Assault Box Sizes
Across the Imperial Assault game and expansions, there are three unique box sizes:- small - Twins Shadows, Bespin Gambit, and Tyrants. We produce the IMP-002 insert for this size box and it provides map tile storage only.
- medium - Return to Hoth, Jabba's Realm, Heart of the Empire. These boxes are all the same size, however, Jabba and Heart each contain a very large mini that requires an insert that is taller than the box, causing lid lift. Therefore, for this box size we recommend IMP-003 for Return to Hoth and the IMP-004 for Jabba and Heart.
- large - base game. Our IMP-001 is designed for this box.
Product Notes
- This kit includes one (1) removable tray and an insert for use in the Twin Shadows expansion box. This insert will not allow your box top to close fully.
- This upgrade kit is constructed of HDF (wood product) and is natural colored. HDF does not contain a wood grain as it is a constructed wood product.
- Upgrade kit assembly requires some wood glue and about 20 minutes of assembly time. We recommend Sobo Craft glue or another comparable quick setting, tacky glue.
- This product is not officially licensed. All marks are the property of their respective owners.

Fits perfectly!
Nice little organizer.
I wish the Hoth & Jabba organizers were but less in price like this one.

Great for setup and teardown. If you own the entire line of imperial assault these inserts make it so much easier to keep track of things when running a game

Easy to assemble, fits the box perfectly. This insert does raise the lid about an inch, but I use a box band to keep everything together and super transportable. With careful arrangement of the tiles, I was able to get all the tiles for the first 8 waves in this one box… I’ll be buying a second when I pick up Heart of the Empire.

Super easy to put together. Fits all the board pieces for the core game, RtH and TS with room to spare. Two smaller sections hold the small end/join pieces, small square/corner pieces and the smaller corridor pieces. The larger pieces all fit in the bottom of the large section, and I personally like to save the lift out tray for the map sections I’ll be using for the upcoming /current campaigns my group is about to play.

Easy and quick to make, IMO no need for glue. Unfortunately it is higher, as advised.

I have this with Imperial-001, and it is a great compliment for that as it holds all the map tiles. I was concerned about the lid lift, but no longer as it feels solid and does not bother like I thought it might.

Got this with insert for the Core game at the same time, and loved the idea of doing map tiles in there own box. I have 2 of these (Twin Shadows and Bespin Gambit) and all expansions through Jabba’s Realm. Able to fit maps for core, Twin Shadows, and Return to Hoth in one box. It just works so well, and the idea to go vertically for more space was great. First insert that I’ve seen think of that.

Quality of the insert is phenomenal! I can’t gush enough over how solid and well made this product is. I will only be buying Go7Gaming box inserts from here on in. You’ve made a fan for life!
Now on this particular insert, if you have all the boxed expansions, you will need two inserts for the Twin Suns and the Bespin Gambit boxes. Just one is overflowing and not big enough to store all the tiles easily.

Have you found that you have enough storage space for the tiles with all current big and small box expansions with just one IMP-002 and the base box insert? I’m trying to decide if I’d need to get another IMP-002 when I pickup Bespin Gambit next month.

The IMP-002 can currently handle all tiles for content release up till now, however, you need to thoughtfully place your tiles in the insert. If you want to be sloppy, you might want to get another.

This tray is designed for the Twin Shadows expansion which i don’t have. I do have the Hoth expansion. will this fit into that box instead?

No. The Twin Shadows box is smaller than Hoth and the IMPERIAL-002 and IMPERIAL-003 inserts are not interchangeable. We have an insert designed specifically for Hoth – the IMPERIAL-003.

This whole line of imperial assault inserts are a godsend. Simple assembly with wood glue and away you go, organized and protected.

I ordered this together with the Imperial-003 insert.
Up to now, I was able to store the tiles in zip lock bags in the Return to Hoth box, but with the new insert, this was obviously not possible.
Very quick assembly, tight fit in the box. I am currently able to still store the large tiles from the core box, Twin Shadows box and Return to Hoth box separately (just using a piece of paper as a horizontal ‘divider’. They are even put in by number (this really reduces set up time). The smaller tiles are still put in zip lock bags in the small compartiments (together with all skirmish and side mission maps from the ally/villain packs). This makes for maximum space management with the box still closing.
Of course, the insert is higher, but it is great out of the box thinking. I cannot see another solution to the tile storage issue (if you want this kind of organised storage).
If you would remove the little tray, I think even more tiles could be stored by number and expansion. I do think this will only work with another small box expansion, but we will have to see what the future brings.
5 stars easily.

I have got all the IA inserts and they are great. I believe the next expansion is also a small box variety so this insert may be suitable for that too. Now if only there were more international retailers!
