We’ve done something special with our storage solution that’s compatible with King of Tokyo / King of New York – we’ve worked hard to deliver a quick building, very inexpensive solution that will organize your game play and storage. Our solution is designed to be used with either base game + expansions.
Note: this solution will work with the original editions of King of Tokyo/New York and with the new edition of King of Tokyo released in Summer 2016. The Summer 2016 box is 2mm shorter, but the insert fits fine. The game top closes fine.
The main insert provides storage for:
- dice – up to 30 dice since we know some of you have extra dice to keep the game moving fast.
- cards – sleeved or unsleeved, including evolution cards.
- monster boards – as many as 14 monster boards.
- figures – you can even store your figures with the bases attached. We glued ours on permanently!
Each kit also includes two removable trays:
- token tray – the token tray provides convenient storage for energy cubes and round counters. The tray can optionally expand to accept two rows of round counters to account for all of the counters present with KoNY.
- tile tray – the tile tray is for use storing KoNY building/unit tiles.
With all of the components in place, set the rules and then the game board on top of the insert (we provide a recess for the game board) and the top will close flat.
We also produce custom figure stands. They might come in handy for those promo figures you have that didn’t include a base.
Note: This insert can’t store both games in one box.
Product Notes
- This insert kit provides storage for all core and expansion components as of May 2016. This solution, based on publicly available information, should also accommodate the new Power Up! expansions for King of New York.
- The insert was designed to store the board and rulebook on top.
- This insert kit provides up to two (2) removable trays for quick setup and use during play.
- This insert kit is lovingly crafted with laser power using a 3mm HDF wood product and is natural colored. HDF does not contain a wood grain as it is a constructed wood product.
- This insert can accommodate sleeved or unsleeved cards. We use Ultra Pro Deck Protectors, but we developed this solution to support FFG, Mayday, and KMC “W” sleeves too.
- Insert kit assembly requires some wood glue and about 25 minutes of assembly time. We recommend Sobo Craft glue or another comparable quick setting, tacky glue.
- This is not a licensed product. All marks are the property of their respective owners.

For such a great game for the family, the out of box organization simultaneously sucks, and blows. It got to the point where we didn’t want to play anymore since it was no longer a quick game to play as the first 10-15min was just sorting out the bits and pieces. This divider system was better than expected. Easy to assemble, and really solid. I’m surprised at how close the thresholds are.. trays just fit in perfectly.
We’ll be ordering another for KONY. This plus dice trays make this a great game for camping trips. For the extra mile, if you could add something to the top lid to store the various instruction sheets (esp for expansion sets) that would be great. I may just put some holes in the lid and add elastic cord so the instructions can be secured to the top box lid.

Feel sad to get rid of the original insert, but I was tired of having separate boxes for the base game and Power Up. Quick easy assembly and just the right amount of organization.

The value line removes the bottom plate, but also makes the insert lighter overall. Very good and easy to build!

Ordered 2 of these, one for both KoT and KoNY. Great quality and exactly as described. I would recommend building the KoNY if you have or are planning on getting the Cthulhu expansion for KoT. It does raise the lid a bit, but again this was mentioned in the description and should be expected with most inserts. Allowed me to combined all of my expansions into the main box and get ride of the small expansion boxes freeing up more space on my game shelf.
Highly recommend! You can’t find or build a better insert for this price.

So when I purchased this I was expecting pretty big things and honestly it delivered and more! Right now I have the KoT base game, the power up, and an extra character pack in it with space to spare!

This is the first insert I’ve purchased from Go 7 Gaming. It was very simple to put together. I look forward to new inserts for other games I own. Keep up the great work!

For the price, this is a very nice insert. It stores the game with room to spare. If I was to suggest an improvement is to have a box for the dice. The price would probably increase, but it would be nice to have.

This insert works great. As another reviewer said, if you have the Cthulu add on monster, build this with the KONY instructions as you will need the additional row in the token holder and the square token storage. I used glue just to be safe on most of the connections, but everything went together easily and fit like a glove.
This was my first GO7 insert and at the same time I ordered an insert from another company for a different game to compare. GO7’s insert was the clear winner. The other one was adequate, but the pieces needed to be broken apart a bit forcefully and you ran the risk of breaking them if you were not careful. GO7’s insert pieces came apart very easily and I never felt like they were flimsy or fragile.
I will be purchasing more of these in the future. Buy with confidence!

Was the other company you ordered from Broken Token, by any chance? I’ve been considering buying theirs, but just came across this one. If you are recommending this one, I will definitely go with it. Thanks!

This insert solved my problem of cutting down on the amount of boxes I have on my shelf. It fits the: Base game + Power Up + Halloween + Cthulhu with plenty of room to spare for further expansions. I did not sleeve my cards, but based on the amount of free space i’d say you can comfortably sleeve your cards and have room to spare. I personally messed up my token tray and only had one lane for my tokens which did leave some token lose, but that we may fault and lack of planning b’c I could’ve had a 2nd row. All in all if you want only one box for KOTY I recommend ordering now

So this was my third insert from Go7Gaming, and it did not disappoint. A few drops of SOBO glue and it was together in no time. I have the original version of King of Tokyo, so I did notice that it rise slightly above the box. When the lid is on, it still looks good. I did want to point out a change to the directions for this insert though. If you have the new monster pack “Cthilhu”, you will want to build this insert following the King Of New York directions to accommodate the madness tokens and cultist tiles.

My biggest concern was, will sleeved cards fit in this storage(?); and YES they will!
This is a beautifully made storage unit and the price is just too perfect 🙂
A little bit of glue is needed for the smaller 2 compartments but the main piece fits in so snug in the box.
I would just like to add, I want to see GO7 make a custom blank monster scorecard and standing base 🙂
Let us use our creativity to make our own custom monsters but make the template for us!
These would sell like hotcackes to fans of KoT 😀

I used this insert for King of New York, with the Power Up expansion.
Pros:
(1) It is functional, and it makes use of all of the space in the box.
(2) The tile/token/bit trays are very nice!
The insert works, but there are a few cons for it with KONY:
(1) The insert isn’t quite flush with the box, and so the lid doesn’t completely close.
(2) The row dedicated to the square Evolution cards isn’t quite adequate enough for its purpose.
The square cards need to be angled enough, so that the game board will fit on top. The Power Up expansion comes with 112 square cards, which I’ve sleeved in FFG sleeves, and with the sleeves, the cards don’t fit in the row at the angle needed. So, I had to use both rows for the square cards. So, I had to put the standard size cards in a deck box, and put them in the section with the cardboard stand-ups. It all worked out, but it’s not as slick as I hoped.
