Our Gloomhaven storage solution includes support for all editions of this wonderful game and full support for Forgotten Circles components. This storage solution includes thirty (30) trays. All fourteen pounds of this kit will arrive on your doorstep, ready to be assembled filled in order to provide an amazing storage solution for your game!
Our design philosophy for this custom storage solution for Gloomhaven differs from the approach taken by others. While it did increase the cost of the solution over competing options, we engineered the storage solution that we felt the game deserved.
As you know, Gloomhaven includes many small, thin cardboard boxes. These are an amazing touch for an amazing game and are required given how the game exposes more options as you progress; however, if you are willing to spend additional money to buy a storage solution for what is arguably one of the most unique games of the decade, why settle for a wood tray that simply holds cardboard boxes that will wear out over time and through continued use?
This kit includes eighteen (18) character storage trays with lids that store each individual character’s cards, tokens, minis, and character boards. The lid has a small cutout to display the character class symbol. These trays are designed to allow you to store your active cards sleeved, but unused cards are intended to be stored unsleeved. With that said, some of the character classes will allow all cards to be sleeved and stored safely in the trays. There is also room to fold your character sheet and place it in the tray as well.
Note: The Gloomhaven second edition+ minis have wildly varying base sizes, unlike the first edition mini bases, which are all very uniform based on our copies and reports we have received. Some of the second edition mini bases match the sizes of the first edition and some don’t. There is no rhyme or reason. This anomaly appears to be a quality issue.
To account for this, each character tray has two mini cutouts to account for the uniform 25mm base size from first edition and a larger cutout to account for second edition variances. If you have the larger second edition minis, our tray bottoms are designed to allow the base to pass through up to 2mm so that your tray lid will close. The tray lids also have a small cutout to allow for this pass through from other trays. This allows the trays to stack together for storage and allow for the larger second edition bases.
This solution features extensive etching across the various trays to speed your setup and play of the game. This includes the monster trays, the terrain trays, the status tray, the token trays, etc. We have etched pretty much everything in this beauty. If you’ve had the chance to play Gloomhaven, you know how time consuming it can be to try and find that one monster or that specific terrain tile. Now you don’t need to struggle!
In addition to the large amount of etching included to simplify and speed game setup, we have provided lids with many of the trays in this solution. These lids have been designed with multiple contact points to ensure they are simple to operate and yet stay closed under normal handling. No need to worry if your tokens are staying put when transporting your game box.
Our large card tray includes etched dividers for each card type and supports sleeved cards.
Our small card tray includes etched dividers for the various card categories. Due to space constraints, we provide three alphabetically etched dividers for monsters (A-F, G-M, N-Z), so you will need to group your cards together, but it is still very fast to find the card set you need.
Note: this solution does require that you open each character box and character mini box to load the character boxes we provide. Therefore, you will obviously get a glimpse of each mini (and the weakest willed among us might even peek at the cards). If this is a problem, you should consider having a non-Gloomhaven player/spouse/friend fill the character trays for you.
This storage solution provides:
-
- Large card tray with etched dividers that stores sleeved or unsleeved cards
- Small card tray with etched dividers that stores sleeved or unsleeved cards
- Eighteen (18) character class storage boxes with lids to store your character cards, character ability cards, character boards, standees, minis, and tokens
- Three (3) monster storage trays with monster name etching to allow you to quickly find the monsters you need
- Etched status token tray with lid for your status tokens with Forgotten Circles support
- Etched token tray and lid for your coins, wounds, and more
- Etched monster stand tray with lid
- Etched summon token tray for summon tokens, tracker tokens
- Two (2) etched terrain storage trays with space to also store bosses
- Etched tray to store monster stat sheets and sleeves.
This solution does not include our GH-002 top tray. The optional top tray creates ~20mm of lid lift.
This solution was designed to store your map tiles, manuals, map board, player counters, and stickers on top of the trays stored inside the box, which will fill your box to the top. If you feel like a top tray is something that your copy of Gloomhaven needs, have a look at our GH-002 top tray.
Rift tokens should be stored in the character box with the Aesther Diviner.
You will not be able to store ~4 standee bases in the standee tray. We suggest you store these in a baggie and use them during setup or just baggie them and keep them with your map tiles. You may not need them ever.
Character Symbols Hack
BGG user @wilbur35 wrote up a little hack he used to affix the character symbols to his character boxes here.
Product Notes
- This insert can store sleeved / unsleeved small and large cards (FFG sleeves, etc.). The oversized monster cards can’t be stored in this solution if sleeved.
- This insert is constructed of HDF (wood product) and is natural colored. HDF does not contain a wood grain as it is a constructed wood product.
- Insert assembly requires some wood glue and about 200 minutes of assembly time. I recommend Sobo Craft glue or another comparable quick setting, tacky glue.
- This product is not officially licensed. All marks are the property of their respective owners.
Version Notes
- v1 – Released Dec 2017, includes 29 trays
- v2 – Released May 11, 2019, includes 30 trays with support added for Forgotten Circles expansion.

The packaging alone was extremely impressive, with a very high level of precision and no space wasted. The instructions are crystal clear and comprehensive. I’m on Plate 18/25 and have experienced NO problems whatsoever with lids being too tight or loose or parts reqiring sanding. This product was designed and manufactured to a breathtakingly high standard of precision. When the instructions mention tolerances of 0.1mm, they mean it.
This is my first ever game insert and I couldn’t be more pleased with the quality. That estimated build time of 180 minutes, tho… I literally averaged an hour apiece on the charater boxes, for instance. Just a noob, or incompetent?

This is an amazing insert that is not for the faint of heart. The estimated time to build is way off. It took me the better part of two days and I am no stranger to crafts or wood working.
It keeps everything in its place, and I could not imagine playing this game without it. I would absolutely buy this again, or recommend it to friends and family. You need this insert.
Its not without its issues though. The character boxes on the ends don’t tend to stay closed and some of the monster compartments have no room for error, which means that if the parts don’t dry absolutely straight, even the slightest (unnoticeable by the naked eye) angle can make some of the monsters not fit. Its also really difficult to tell which characters are where without pulling them out one by one (because the icon view is on the side). Etching the character symbols on the top of each character box would have gone a long way towards usability.
Lastly, although it claims to fully support the Forgotten Circles expansion, my experience thus far is that its only partially true.
The total weight of the game + insert (including GH-002) came in at 28.5 lbs.

For me this is the best storage solution for any game that I own. Precision manufacturing and top quality material. Quite professional. A joy to construct. I really like doing things like this, but I’m an old model builder from way back. I will agree with a few others that a repackaging sheet would be most helpful on getting things back inside the box. The etching is very welcome and a great help, but as I am not completely familiar with all of the components, having a map showing “this token/card goes in this compartment” would be nice. Maybe a PDF download? Though having to search and discover a bit to identify the pieces does help with getting familiar with everything. Not a big deal either way.
I love this storage solution (GH-001) and I highly recommend it to anyone who owns this game!! I also highly recommend the upper tray (GH-002). Together this combination is the prime solution. Cheers!!

I love that it came in two days after ordering it. The instructions were pretty clear, I would add on the instructions included what the little included wooden sticks are for (cleaning up glue) they were a mystery until I googled and found it on your blog. The other small comment I had on the instructions was for a larger label for the plates #-it would be nice on each diagram since some were missing (they are on the thumbnails but tiny tiny font). Otherwise you puzzle a bit at the shapes to make sure it matches the thumbnail.
I love the monster boxes and labels , very clear where to find your monsters and they all fit nicely in there. There was one empty slot for me (experience tokens) because mine is a second edition. This made me sad, I prefer the first edition character cards.
Also being a Marylander I used a crab mallet if something was giving me trouble. Whack!
Thanks!

This thing is amazing. High quality, sturdy, and looks great. Assembly instructions were as clear as could be, very little sanding required to fit everything together, and everything is clearly labeled which is super helpful for storage.
The only drawback is that, while everything fits in the original Gloomhaven box, I had to look up a separate video on how to put it all in the box together because there were no instructions on how to do it that I saw.
Otherwise this is a fantastic product that I have already recommended to others.

I knew I wanted to buy an insert for Gloomhaven and after looking through all of the products out there I went with the Go7 Gaming insert. The reason is I loved how each character, their cards, modifier decks and minis each had their own box to store them in. All of the rest of the items for holding tokens and cards were similar enough between the varioius insert companies that it was the boxes that made the decision for me.
The other item I was extremely happy with was I messed up a couple of the boxes as I was building it and they mailed out replacement parts immediately for free. Very happy with the product.

Overall I’m glad I bought it. I wouldn’t never buy the tuckboxes that BT has.
I’m not going to do all the Pros (there are many) – im just going to highlight my one real gripe:
Biggest Con: The character boxes don’t close well. I think that maybe the second edition increased the base size of the minis? Either way this is my biggest complaint… they would just pop open or not fit well in the box (I’d have to jam them all into the box). I’ve started using larger plastibands around the character boxes to keep them closed. Also if you sleeve all the attack cards they *barely* fit into the character boxes.
Otherwise I really can’t complain. Some of the lids are tight… but just get some sandpaper + 10 minutes and it’s fixed.

The character boxes closed perfectly for me, and they fit the sleeved attack cards just fine. I ordered this insert about 2 weeks ago. I might have received a revised copy of this insert – it specifically had larger character slots to fit the 2nd edition gloomhaven characters, with larger base.

This is hands down the best storage solution for Gloomhaven. Everything is laid out well and the engraving lets me know where everything goes. It makes setup and take down of the game so much faster.

This storage solution has been great for my wife and I. The build was long, but not overly difficult. The “tile keys” are a good solution to a easily missed problem. The final product has a great packing feel, holds everything well. GH-002 is the pièce de résistance. The way that it holds the map tiles and everything extra makes it easy to recommend. 100% satisfied with the product.

What a great item. I had previously separated everything via baggies and after about 5-6 scenarios, I broke down and purchased the insert for this game. It has cut down setup and breakdown time by like 80%. High quality product and better than other options out there, in my opinion. Believe me when I say I went back and forth before settling on this insert, however, I couldn’t be more content with the design combined with all the etched named slots. Only minor complaint I would have is that I feel the small card tray could use more dividers. Specifically, it would be nice to have either blank ones or ones etched with item card prosperity level. This is nitpicking though and doesn’t affect my overall rating of this item

In the pictures it shows that the character box for the Tinkerer has multiple slots cut out on the front. One of the slots is for the Character Symbol. What are the other 2 for? It looks weird and unnecessary.

I was definitely impressed with the quality and thought that went into this insert. It does its job well, and while I haven’t actually used any of its competitors, I’m happy that this is the insert I went with.
Important note: It took me 12-14 hours to build this insert. I was being careful–applying glue to every surface of every joint, and wiping away all excess glue, but it didn’t feel like I was working particularly slow. For me, this wasn’t a problem or a surprise, as I’d already read reviews and knew what I was getting into. But it’s worth making super clear ahead of time that this is an actual project, not just a quick organizational fix.
Pros:
– The vast majority of pieces fit together very well, and feel really solid when dry. (I used craft glue at every point I could, which may have been excessive, but it’s resulted in something I think won’t ever fall apart on me.)
– The instructions are clear, if you are careful to align pieces correctly. I only ran into two cases where I glued in pieces the wrong way, purely due to user error. They include instructions for how to stack in the box.
– Things are organized very well. I love the character boxes, the monster and terrain organizers, everything really. It’s so easy to just scan the trays and pick out what I need.
– It was a _lot_ of fun to build. It took me 12-14 hours, but I really enjoyed all of it.
Cons:
– There is no storage built in for the health-and-experience trackers, which have to sit in with the large map pieces.
– There is no storage specifically for the character sheets (which don’t fit in the character boxes). I ended up storing mine in the top tray, face-down for the ones I hadn’t unlocked and face-up for the ones I’d unlocked, but this competes with the large map pieces.
– There is a _lot_ of extra space in both the card holders, that potentially could have been used to store the health/exp trackers and character sheets mentioned above.
– The writing is, in some cases, a little difficult to read. Outlines of letters was never going to be particularly clear. Not really a big deal, though–it’s such an organizational improvement that the text isn’t really necessary in any case.
– As others have mentioned, there is no way to tell what the characters are from the top. I solved this by cutting out the symbols of the old character boxes and taping them to the top. (See my attached picture.)
All told, this is a great product, and I’m glad I grabbed it.

This was easy enough to assemble and is sturdy. But I will say 3 hour time line is BS now it could be that I have never built one of these before but it took me closer to 10 hours to build. Other than that I a super happy with this

I’ve built very many inserts, used Meeples, BT etc… But never a chance for g7g. When I got Gloomhaven I built an insert because I’m crazy like that. But really wanted a pro insert for this epic game.
Love the character box idea and the use of HDF which is a product I like despite its heavy weight. Additionally I like the etching for labels – very well thought out for playing the game.
Here are my recommended refinements
-Three lids are insanely too tight as noted by others. I simple used a small square file for modeling and fixed in 5 minutes. Clearly it shoudn’t require that. Certainly didn’t need to make flush length fit. If that was reduced along with width – problem solved.
-The font is too small on the card divders. Fonts should be sold instead of outlined on trays. Maybe even use the fonts the designer provided on his create pack. Perhaps adjust laser to lower power. It’s awesome that it’s there but could be more readable.
-Character boxes should have their respective symbol on the side. Assume this wasn’t done for licensing reasons. I used the create pack for making some nice symbols – but would have been better if lasered in .
-Finally, where are the packing instructions? How about a YouTube video? And how are supposed to pack the top part? I went to and used their recommendation – worked out decent.
I really like the insert (better than my BT brand). Just a little more refinement would have been great.

Originally, I used the BT insert – it was an officially licensed product – and thought I would be happy with it. After a few sessions, I realized that it had some faults, namely in the shallowness of some of the trays, the searching for the correct bit tiles to populate the scenario board, and the fiddly-ness of the enemy tuck boxes.
So, looking around I came across this product, studied it, and decided to purchase. I am happy with the end results – the trays are deep, most of them have lids, bits and lids are labelled (so finding what you’re looking for isn’t an exercise in “is this the part? nope – next!”), and the individual class boxes are brilliant! Everything stores with sleeves (I sleeved all my cards), though just barely (there is some spare room to work with – not much though). If you don’t sleeve, or only partly sleeve, then there will be significantly more room for storage.
All parts were precision cut (25 board sheets), easily removed, and fits together neatly (and occasionally, snugly). Wood glue (carpenter’s glue) is highly recommended; friction fitting will not be enough due to the lids (pulling a lid off will likely make a friction fitted box/tray fall apart). Instructions could be clearer, though the figures help smooth that over. A figure showing how all the trays fit in the box would’ve been helpful (I referred back to G7G’s product page for this). The organizer took me about three evenings to build.
The longest time was spent building the class boxes – there are 17 of them!
One thing – my copy arrived missing a board sheet. A quick email back to G7G was promptly responded to that evening, and the missing parts were sent out the next business day. Great service and responsiveness!
Overall, a great product, neatly stores all the GH components, quickly helps in scenario setup/teardown, boxes are lidded for convenience, and the design is quite sturdy.

After ordering Gloomhaven, the thought of opening a gargantuan box filled with poly bags upon poly bags was the realization that this game would never get played unless I had a dedicated space to leave it out (for years!) or buy into a storage solution.
I’ve already bought the complete storage solution from G7G for Star Wars Imperial Assault, and it is amazing. So much that I paid the extra premium for getting the better Gloomhaven storage solution. The product has met my high expectations from G7G.
Pros:
– Everything in the game has its own place in the box, that is well organized and lazer-etched labeled for easy access. This makes for easy setup and a well-organized play area.
– The engineering of the layout fits everything snugly in the original game box.
– The individual character boxes make great gameplay storage. They hold all the cards sleeved with Mayday standard sleeves. (We love being able to pack our character away in these neat little boxes)
Cons:
– Its heavy. The game itself weighs in over 20lbs, and this HDF product adds at least another 10lbs to the box. The game pushes over 30lbs resting on the shelf.
– Some of the token container lids fit very tight, and it takes alot of wiggling to get them open. This may wear down over time, but new they are kind of a pain.
– Some of the character box lids fit too loose. If they aren’t stored tightly in the box, they can come loose and components fall out.
I built and setup the storage solution before playing or knowing much about the game, so seeing the sealed characters didn’t really do much to “spoil” the experience for me. I took care not to read anything about them, but I’m sure by the time we get to retiring a character I will have forgotten much if not all about what is in the other boxes.
All in all, this is another finely crafted product by the heroes at G7G. I’ve tried the rest, now I’ve got the best! G7G won me over with their SW:IA set and this investment has further proven my choice to buy from the best in the business!

This was EXTREMELY helpful! I have a couple of inserts for different games from “the other” big name in storage solutions. But due to research and gamer opinion, I decided to pay the extra for ALL the inserts for Imperial Assault!
Worth the price (and I live in Australia) because of the engineering, quality and thought that go7 put into their products!
So, thanx to this review I will be buying this insert once I buy Gloomhaven!

Is there a plan to either etch the name of the character or their symbol on the character trays to help distinguish them? As someone shopping for an insert for Gloomhaven, I feel it could be an annoyance not being able to grab the right one. Sure doesn’t help set-up time…

If I end up going with this insert, I’ll most likely end up drawing the symbol on the box or printing the symbol on a sticker and attaching it to the box.

I can agree with this request. Although the names of some of the characters some feel to be spoilers. The symbols may be copyrighted, so this suggestion may not be likely to succeed in the future. Good question though.

The class tray lids have a hole in them that lines up with the class icon on the play board. When the boxes are closed up you can see which class is pretty easily.

I also shopped around to find the right organizer for me (and consulted my local gaming store). The etched labels sold me.
I have to say it took all weekend to put together, but went together very well, with instructions that weren’t too difficult to figure out.
I’ve built all of the character boxes but haven’t transferred over the “unopened” ones – and won’t – until I unlock them during the game. I’ve simply set those aside until that time.
The one thing that could be better is an extra sheet included to show how to put everything back in the box. I had to search for a video to figure it out, then promptly forgot the first time I took everything out to play.
I’m partially sleeving as I go, and everything fits with plenty of room.
I agree that a few of the lids are very tight and somewhat difficult to open. Although I am sure this will improve over time (with use), I plan to gently file the edges of those tight ones to improve the fit – just a small bevel along the top edge of a few sides should do it (testing frequently).

The product works great. We like how each character gets their own box (had a non gaming family member put them in). Even better is the fact that there is no cardboard boxes to wear out like another company uses for their monster boxes; it’s all good with wood.
Everything is easily laid out and well organized, with the easy to read laser engraving for what goes where.
The only negative I have is the material. With the other big brand, parts fit together snugly, so I just used my wood glue from the garage. These are a bit looser, so they required a trip to Wal-Mart for some tacky glue to hold the bigger parts together. Once assembled, everything is solid. Lids fit snug, but not too tight so tiny tokens stay where you put them.

Goes together nicely (like everything else has). I would say this should come in the gloomhaven kit but I did pay extra for like everyone else and it is worth it. building one out of foamcore just doesn’t seem to go with the rest of the kit.

I’m happy with this organizer, it really makes storing this monster of a game much easier. And setup time is considerably shorter as well. I decided to stain mine, which turned out well. And used a thin paint pen to make the letters stand out more. I was even able to get the character seals off the original boxes and sealed the new boxes with them.
Everything holds tight, no loose tops. Pieces fit perfectly with no issues.

Like most of us, I over read reviews and “hemed” and “hawed” over YouTube videos to try and figure out which insert to get. I mean, if I was going to spend half to 2/3rds of the cost of the game, I wanted it to be the right one for me. Based on this, I went with the Go7. It fits almost everything wonderfully. The assembly took about 3 hours total, and everything fit like a glove. Setup has become a breeze with the inserts, and I plan to get the top tray to simplify the map piece storage eliminating my only complaint of the finished product. The only MINOR drawback is I had to get my wife to stuff the character boxes that I had not seen yet, but that was quickly erased when I was able to fawn over the completed project. A mere moment of discomfort for a fantastic final product. All-in-all, home run and worth the purchase.

Very nice. Build took me about 4 hours all told, with a chunk spent listening to things.
One minor grip is they should etch the character symbols into the sides of the boxes so you can see them without pulling them out, i took some tape and taped the symbol from the packing on the side for the moment.

Assembled the entire organizer and sorted all the pieces. This is a fantastic solution to keeping your game sorted and easily accessible. The only downside I’d have to say is that some of the character boxes do not close completely when their action cards are sleeved in premium sleeves. I used Dragon Shield Matte sleeves and some of the characters have a ton of cards which caused me to have to rubber band the box shut. It’s not a huge deal, but its a bit tacky. Other than that everything is properly labeled and fits perfectly. I would definitely recommend compared to other inserts out on the market.

After an exhausting research round, looking for the right insert for GH I stumbled upon this gem on a forum discussing the flimsiness of a competitor. I crossed my fingers and pulled the trigger on the Go7 solution. So glad I did! The instructions for assembly were spectacular and the packaging was snug and secure. a few hours of gluing and an overnight dry later my set up and tear down time or GH have been cut DRASTICALLY. Buy this. Hell, buy it twice just cause. I plan on purchasing more legacy storage items from Go7 in the near future based on the quality of this product.

Overall, fantastic product! Couple suggestions: would be awesome to have the monster cards split up a little more, slot per monster, to make them easier to quickly grab and then replace. And secondly, would like to see a more explicitcation for the handling of single use cards like city, road, etc. none of this changes the value of what you get. A must have for gloomhaven.

This really is a very well designed and manufactured set, and is great to use. My only gripe is that I wish they had shown the symbol for each of the player characters on tray boxes. Just the outline would have been very cool. But this thought shouldn’t detract from a very cool box set. Buy the top tray as well.
Some people have been saying it’s hard to worknoit how to stack all the boxes back in the big box afterward and want a good but if you go to the pictures at the top of this web page there are two photos that show the layout and make it very easy.

This is an awesome organizer. I watched several videos and looked at multiple storage solutions for this game online. I really saw a wide range solutions on Board Game Geek. After briefly considering the Folded Space organizer (foam core that is much cheaper…until shipping to the US) I decided to get this one. Ultimately, the character boxes and believe it or not the tile key were major selling features for me. Even after reading the comments I was surprised at how clear the instructions were…I actually enjoyed the process of building and gluing the boxes together way more than I thought I would. After playing several rounds I’m really happy I spent so much time picking the right organizer. Game set up is quite fast and those tile keys…brilliant! I reccomend you do your own research but if you’re looking for a quality storage option to hasten set up you have to consider this project. To top it off quick shipping and made in the USA!🇺🇸

I’ll start with the bad:
Orange tinted finger tips
Sore finger tips from punching everything out
Takes longer than 180 minutes if you want to do a really good job (I’m picky)
Very pricey
Smells like burning wood when you’re building it
Now the good:
Looks very nice when completed
Organization is done pretty well
Labeling is done very well
The reason I chose this product over the Meeple was I like the labeling inside the boxes instead of outside.
The reason I chose this product over Daedelus was I heard the stain comes off the wood and covers your fingers. Originally, I was leaning towards Daedelus.
The instructions are pretty easy to follow and putting this together was fairly easy. It was very time consuming though. I glued all contact points and then went back through with a toothpick to scrape any excess glue. An organizer does make setting up the game a ton easier than digging through a ziploc bag, trying to find monsters.
I don’t know if this manufacturer has a huge advantage over the other ones, however, I’m pretty happy with the finished product.

I could not play Gloomhaven without an insert, so I looked in to a number of them. This insert had me sold at the individual character boxes and labeling. I hate having to remember what items I’ve purchased for some random character I played 3 weeks ago. With the individual boxes, you just keep all of that in there and it can’t get lost nor can the items be accidentally sold to more than one character.
Besides the weekend it took me to glue every single piece into place (I used Elmer’s Wood Glue + a super cheap mini paint brush to spread the glue). I’m a perfectionist and I really enjoyed the quality materials in this product. I did not experience a single splinter, chip or imperfection in any of the joints. That’s simply amazing. Very well done, guys.
Now my put up and tear down times are measured in minutes – and others can pitch in because of the labeling. More time for gaming which allows a session to occur when otherwise time would not permit.
Get the top basket as well. All the loose pieces take up several inches and you don’t want to be constantly fighting a pile of random un-stackable cardboard. It also alows you to just place the thing back in the box quickly and out of the way. During game play all of the un-selected characters remain at the bottom of the box, so they never get unpacked. For an added twist, I pulled the “seal” stickers off of the reveal boxes and placed them on the top corner of the character’s insert boxes for the ones I have yet to unlock.
Lastly, the character box miniature placeholder is just tall enough to hold the miniature without scuffing up the custom paint – that’s a huge relief.
Best Gloomhaven Insert by a Mile!

Robust, precise and extremely well designed. After several reviews I came to the conclusion that this should be the best Gloomhaven insert for me and I am not disappointed. Needs lots of time for construction, but this can be fun when you take your time. This product is quite expensive but I do not regret spending the money.

This was my first organizational insert I’ve ever purchased. I didn’t realize how long it would take me to put together. I’d say it took me about 12 hours to put it together, unboxed and repack into the insert. However I was extremely meticulous with my gluing and it probably could’ve went quicker had I not been. I highly recommend this product just be prepared to build. The best part is that everything is labeled. That helps me out a lot personally. I purchased the tray as well. I am glad I did. Everything fits together nicely However the tray races the top lid about an inch. But with the behemoth like Gloomhaven it doesn’t really matter.

I have nothing but good things to say about the finished kit. But the notion that it could be built in three hours? Let me put it this way. It’s conceivable that I could build the kit in three hours knowing what I now know. Unlikely, but conceivable. But as it is, I have probably spent 3-6 hours on it *on top of* the six hours I hired an assembly person for.
Just be aware of what you’re getting into. Also, plan for some time figuring out how to pack it.
In summary, if you’re dithering about whether to pay the extra ten dollars for this kit over some competitors, you’re aiming at the wrong target. Think instead of the hours of your life it will take to build it. If you will enjoy that time, then you’ll be glad to have this finished kit.

Being more of a casual board gamer, I was not ready for the behemoth that is Gloomhaven. The game is huge with tons of physical components associated with the playing of it. From what I heard and what I’ve discovered, a storage solution is a must. This product is well made and cleverly engineered, even though I had a couple of fitment issues and the instructions are just a bit shy of being easy to follow. I’m three play sessions in and the organizer is performing well. Lastly, I wish the price wasn’t 2/3 of the price of the game itself, but everyone has to make a living.

This makes setup and storage a breeze. Assembly is really straightforward and (dare I say) kinda fun! Do I wish the lid was included? Sure. But it’s not a deal breaker. It does the job and does it really well.

This is the only insert out there that replaces the cardboard boxes for the character envelopes and miniatures, which was a big reason for me selecting this insert over the others out there. It’s rather nice to have a wooden box for your character that can hold everything related to it with premium sleeves (I used Fantasy Flight). If spoiling characters is a problem, simply keep the envelopes sealed until you unlock the class and then transfer to the nice wood character box. I just transferred it all right away as seeing a glimpse of a name wasn’t that big of a deal to me. Also I strongly recommend compressing the sleeved character cards under some heavy books overnight to flatten them out before you put them in their boxes. If you use thinner sleeves this probably isn’t needed. I would compress the 4 starter attack modifier card decks as well so that when you want to put them in they fit better too.
The boxes for the small and large cards also fit everything just fine (not super tight either!) using premium FF sleeves. There is just enough labeled dividers to make it usable and well sorted.
The other trays and boxes that contain monster standees, terrain tiles, etc. are well designed. There are covers on the token and monster trays, and everything has nice labels that remind you what goes where. The monster standee trays have little wooden “keys” that you can use to help get the standees out of the spots if they get stuck for some reason so you don’t have to go crazy jamming your finger in it to get something out.
All of the lids fit fine, not too loose or tight. Lids on the character boxes and monster trays are just tight enough to hold things in place in the box, but you cannot hold it upside down without the components pushing the cover off. This isn’t a problem in my opinion, just don’t go shaking it around upside down and you’re fine.
You will definitely want to use glue, I used tacky glue and it held very well. Some of the insert panels that you punch pieces from have long thin wooden parts that aren’t mentioned in the instructions. These are just an optional thing you can use to help clean up glue as you assemble. I rubbed extra on the joints of the card trays as they weighed a decent amount with all of the cards in sleeved. I would also strongly recommend getting the extra tray they sell for the top of the box. Without it, you will have the map tiles, book, envelopes, etc. sitting on top of the insert and the box will not go all the way down, there just isn’t enough room. The tray raises the box about an inch or so.
I would have liked the character symbols on the sides of the boxes so you could see which was what inside the box as they are without needing to pull them out and look at the cut out window in the lid that you can see their symbol through. Once again, not a huge deal but it would have been a nice touch. Just keep your current characters on the end inside the box. Unlocking a new character class doesn’t happen very often anyways either.
One last thing on the character boxes again. Their covers have a window for the class symbol to be seen, and then have a couple other holes in them as well. I didn’t know why this was the case until I went to put things into the box. I have the 2nd edition and the miniature bases poke out of the back of their boxes a bit sometimes (not all of them), so those small holes in the cover are there for the box next to it to have that extra millimeter or two so the boxes fit snug in your game box. Very clever design!
Overall I’m very happy with this insert. Fitting premium sleeved cards and the way the insert is made with the covered boxes and such make this my recommendation for anybody wanting an insert for Gloomhaven.

Really happy with this insert. Yes, it is slightly pricey and it take several hours to assemble, but the results were worth it. Pieces were precisely cut, the kit fits sleeved cards and after assembly (I used glue), the whole insert is pretty bullet proof. I dropped a tray from standing to a tile floor with no damage at all.
All the laser labeling is tremendously helpful too!

Go7Gaming’s organizer for Gloomhaven may be one of the more expensive ones, but the quality is solid, the lids are fantastic for those who don’t want to carry their game like a cake, and the instructions are very, very easy.
That’s something that became very apparent when building it. There was zero ambiguity and the assembly was time consuming but still seemed to go fast considering the quantity of pieces.
My only complaint is that some of the lids fit super snug, especially the tokens. A little bit is fine, but maybe with more use it will give me a little more wiggle room. Minor complaint in the overall scheme of things.

Great product. Arrived quickly, the quality is great, it assembled quickly, and it makes my setup and tear down of Gloomhaven MUCH quicker. I couldn’t be happier with the product.
My sole complaint is that the instructions didn’t include a “how to put it in the box” section. Between the pictures on the website and a video I found by a third party reviewer, I was able to figure it out, but I don’t know why go7 doesn’t have instructions for this (and ideally, a video).

I bought this organizer before my copy of Gloomhaven even arrived. Take this into consideration, the game alone weighs in at a whopping 22 pounds. Obviously you’re going to lose some weight when you punch out all the cardboard pieces, but still just think about how many components you need to deal with. Gloomhaven is intense with tons of moving parts and components. Have proper organization is going to be essential to your success and enjoyment. I haven’t even had time to sit down to play a scenario but I can already appreciate the level of detail given to this organizer. It holds everything perfectly and gets it all packed back into the box in a clean and organized fashion. It made setting up my first scenario extremely easy thanks to every component having a labeled storage area. It will take a while to get everything into the proper place and will take some trial and error to figure out how it is all supposed to go back in the box. With the complexity of this organizer and the amount of containers, dry fitting is essential!

This is a copy of a post I made on BGG but fits.
I can’t speak for all of the inserts that have been listed in threads, but I can give my own highlights of the three most popular ones.
Broken Token
Pros:
Monster Boxes: This is unique among the options. I find them a neat addition and they look and stack nice.
Card Boxes: Adjustable. You can adjust the size of the card slots as the decks change.
Character Boxes: The character boxes are a nice addition that you can use during play. The only thing I wish they had was that the cardboard character sheet actually slotted into place within the wood when put away. As is, it teeters inside.
Envelope Tray: This small, nearly hidden tray for the town book and envelopes is nice.
Tile Tray: I like the instructions on the side of the tile tray.
Cons:
Monster Boxes: These don’t work as well as I would have liked. They are card boxes, so they can tear easily, and the cards and tokens don’t all fit nice in them
Hero Boxes: They don’t all fit. This is particularly a pain if you are playing with less than 4 players. I’m not sure why this design decision was made.
Dials: No native spot for the dials. They can be set on top but they don’t fit well.
Daedalus
Pros:
Stain: The stain and etchings are unique and looks nice.
Labels: Everything is labeled. This is fantastic.
Character Boxes: They all fit, and they all have their own spot with matching symbol. Nice.
Monster Tokens: They are easy to pull out and use at the table.
Monster Sheets: The claw marks are a nice addition.
Cons:
Incomplete: It seems kind of incomplete. There should have been a box or two of some sort to store the tiles. This unit was so close to being perfect if it had just done a little more.
Insert Stacking: Some of the inserts just kind of lay in the box at an angle. They give the impression they were just thrown in and don’t fit right.
Dials: No native spot for the dials. They can be shoved into different areas but it isn’t ideal.
Stain: Can be a bit more difficult or messy to deal with when gluing. Not a huge issue but something to be aware of.
Go7gaming
Pros:
Character Boxes: Nice big character boxes. With room for the miniatures.
Card Boxes: Adjustable. You can adjust the size of the card slots as the decks change.
Lids: Most of the containers have lids. Unique to these three options.
Fit: Likely the best overall fit of all the options. Well-engineered overall.
Labels: Most are labeled.
Solid: Slightly stronger overall.
Cons:
Cost: Wow, this one is expensive. Especially if you get the extra tray.
Character Boxes: You either have to have someone else put all the pieces in these boxes, or you have to reveal them in order to put them away. Also, it would have been better if they had etchings on the side so you can see when they are in the box.
Top Box: Separate cost on top of the already high price of the component boxes.
Weight: Heaviest of the three.
Final Thoughts
I primarily just pointed out my overall assessment of each in how they are most different. All three options are fully functional. I started with the Broken Token one and after using it for awhile, I discovered I didn’t like certain aspects of it. I later went to Daedalus and the lack of tile control was frustrating. I wanted to like the Daedalus one because visually it is very nice. It is also highly functional during play but doesn’t store as well. I have now settled on the go7gaming box. If you can get over the cost and you have someone that will put all the components into the character boxes for you, I feel it is the best option available. I have not looked at those versions that are not available within the states however.

Where to begin…
This insert is almost a necessity for Gloomhaven. This is easily the largest insert I have ever built (and probably ever will), but it is awesome! Setup and take down is so much faster. I am a little OCD when it comes to keeping things organized and this insert keeps everything perfectly.
Before buying, I did a LOT of research (probably too much). I looked at Meeple Realty, Broken Token, Deadulus and more from Etsy. At the end of the day this insert seemed to be the most organized in a way that actually helps you get the game to the table faster. Simply put, it was more intuitive. It is also made of really good material. It does require wood glue and it will take a long time to build (really long). But I’m the end, it is so worth it.
This is the insert you have been looking for. I would highly suggest picking up the top tray as well. It does make the lid lift, but it is super convenient.
I have purchased several game inserts from other companies, but now I’m starting to look at what else Go7Gaming offers. Keep up the good work.

I can’t conceive of STARTING Gloomhaven let alone PLAYING it without this product. Trust me, when breaking down all the components after opening the box, you’re going to want this inventory sorter to keep you from feeling overwhelmed.
The quality is excellent. The instructions are concise, clear and perfectly illustrated.
Assembly seemed very daunting at first given I have an eternal zero rating in my craft skill but I quickly got the hang of it. I used the recommended glue (4oz bottle plenty for this task) and have no complaints.
All in all, a very nice looking and effective accompaniment to a great game.
Only complaint is small: more small card dividers. I’d like to break down the monster action cards further to limit shuffling through to find the ones I need.

This was only the second game insert I have built for a game, and yeah I never start small… This is also the first time I built one that needed glued in general. That said I don’t think I’ll ever go back, the parts are all very well fit, very little sanding was required at all. I had 1 lid that was a little too snug for my taste, but a little sanding took care of it no problem. The etching was super nice and I can’t wait to get this to the table to start the adventure now that I have the game all sorted out.

This organizer is excellent. The components are sturdy and each piece when completed feels very solid. Some of the lids are a little tight, but as it says in the instructions, put the lids on a few minutes after initial assembly and let everything dry that way, it really did seem to help those tighter lids loosen up to the point where they came away without an extra effort.
The character boxes have an excellent design, with plenty of space to hold the character sheet and also any other papers you may keep notes on and want to fold up and keep with the character.
The build is time consuming but absolutely worth it. Everything fits cleanly in the box. I’m absolutely pleased with it and would recommend it to anyone who has the cash to drop on a professional organizer. Its definitely a time saver for future gaming.

This was my first insert build and I originally thought I was getting in way over my head with how many pieces and parts there are to the Gloomhaven insert from Go7. However with following the instructions and slowly using Elmer’s Glue over a 2 day period I managed to successfully put this entire set together.
Pros
– All pieces are extremely organized and will now be able to easily identify which parts and pieces are needed instead of digging through zip-lock bags worth of components.
– Product quality. The wood used for these inserts are much sturdier than ones used by other competitors
– Quality Assurance. I believe Go7 stands by their products and ensure customers who researches about which inserts are best will look into Go7.
Cons
– Lids are a little tight. However I think this will loosen up with more game-play

Is it possible to store unopened character boxes in the wood character boxes if we omit the the dividers until such time as we are allowed to open them?

Hi please can you let me know if 100 micron sleeved cards all fit? Thanks

Admin Bobby G. –
All of our designs in the past couple of years have been designed to allow the use of FFG sleeves as a reference point. It is my understanding that FFG sleeves are also 100 microns thick per
https://www.boardgamegeek.com/article/4649190#4649190
However, I measured an FFG sleeve I had here on my desk and it is 90 microns thick, not 100 microns. Are your card sleeves actually 100 microns? In any case, yes, our solution can handle 100 micron sleeves.

I was not thinking of the character mini but rather the other box with the cards and character sheet. The minis I will be keeping separately until needed. I had hoped they could maybe fit inside, or instead of the wood boxes.
I will see when my kit arrives. My wife agreed to pack the boxes for us if needed.

Admin Bobby G. –
Ah, I see what you mean. No, the character boxes do not fit inside our boxes, nor will they fit inside the game box with the other trays if you leave our character trays out. You will need your wifes help packing the boxes, if you want to avoid seeing minis, cards, etc.
(0) (0)
Admin Bobby G. –
Christopher, not really. The character boxes have a cutout where the base rests in the bottom of the tray, so keeping the mini in the box is not an option.

Thanks for getting back to me, given it will be coming to the EU I wanted to be sure. Re the size of sleeves they are advertised at 100 microns (docsmagic premium) but guessing like alot of stuff have a margin of error. Either way this looks perfect 🙂
